At ABB, we help industries outrun - leaner and cleaner. Here, progress is an expectation - for you, your team, and the world. As a global market leader, we’ll give you what you need to make it happen. It won’t always be easy, growing takes grit. But at ABB, you’ll never run alone. Run what runs the world.

This role sits within ABB's Robotics business, a leading global robotics company. We're entering an exciting new chapter as we’ve announced the plan for SoftBank Group to acquire ABB Robotics. SoftBank is a globally recognized technology group and investor/operator focused on AI, robotics, and next-generation computing. By joining us now, you’ll be part of a pioneering team shaping the future of robotics—working alongside world-class experts in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.

This Position reports to: Production Engineering Manager.

As the Maintenance Manager at ABB Robotics, you are responsible for leading and further developing the maintenance operations within the factory in Västerås. The maintenance department is responsible for both preventive and corrective maintenance and is a business-critical function for the factory's stability, safety, and efficiency. The role is both strategic and operational and involves a clear mission to initiate and drive the development of the maintenance organization towards a more structured and data-driven approach in line with WCM (World Class Manufacturing). You will play a key role in setting direction, building structures, and establishing working methods – from the current state to future goals.

A particular focus of the role is to build and develop a strong team, where clear ownership of equipment, collaboration, and shared working methods are crucial for success. The maintenance organization is divided into areas of responsibility within mechanical maintenance, cabling/calibration, and automation. You will lead approximately 15 highly experienced and competent maintenance technicians and be responsible for developing both the organization, working methods, and culture.

A very important part of the mission is to prepare the maintenance organization for the transition to ABB Robotics' new Campus, as well as ensuring that competence, structure, and processes meet future demands in a modern and highly automated production environment.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead and build a high-performing maintenance organization with clear equipment ownership
  • Initiate and drive the development towards WCM-based working methods within maintenance
  • Be responsible for the maintenance budget, cost tracking, and resource optimization
  • Ensure maintenance plans and high availability in preparation for the transition to ABB Robotics' new Campus
  • You will be part of the technology management team and report to the Manager of Industrial Engineering

You are responsible for creating structure, working methods, and conditions that enable the organization to take full operational responsibility for maintenance work. This includes planning, execution, and follow-up of preventive and corrective maintenance, systematic analysis of disturbances, secure spare parts supply, lifecycle management of equipment, and responsibility for equipment relocations. You will develop technical solutions that increase reliability and lifespan and ensure that documentation, records, and maintenance plans are kept up to date. The role also includes monitoring contractors and participating in service agreements.

As a leader, you drive change, create engagement, and build consensus. You develop the team's competence, ensure knowledge sharing, and promote collaboration between technical areas. You ensure that the organization has the right competence for today's and future needs and initiate training in operator maintenance when necessary.

Qualifications for the role

  • Several years of experience as a Maintenance Manager or in another leadership role within maintenance in the manufacturing industry, preferably with a high degree of automation.
  • Experience in initiating and driving development towards WCM (AM/PM) or similar structured maintenance and improvement methods
  • Strong ability to build teams and lead change in a technically complex environment
  • Ability to combine a strategic holistic perspective with operational presence and sense of urgency for value flow.
  • Experience in lifecycle management, preventive maintenance, reliability work, and budget responsibility
  • A technical education at the college/university level or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
